The My Thai team is really like a family, working closely together with the common goal of creating an enjoyable Thai dining experience and sharing authentic Thai flavours with you. Chef Pen and her team travel back to Thailand every year to seek further inspiration and bring you new dishes.

    Manager
    Renju is originally from India and moved to NZ in 2005 to study hospitality management. The beautiful scenery in this country, especially in Queenstown, captured his heart and like many before him he decided to settle here. When presented with the opportunity to join My Thai, he was happy to explore his fascination with Thai cuisine and it's similarities to the food of his home in southern India.
  • Chef Pen

    Head Chef
    Chef Pen developed her passion for food growing up in Bangkok and has over 20 years experience cooking authentic Thai food. She has worked all around the world, for a period travelling on behalf of the Thai government to promote Thai cuisine to other countries and to showcase her skills. In 2004 Pen came to Queenstown, NZ, to pursue a new opportunity and has since fallen in love with the place. Lucky for us!
  • Melanie

    Owner Operator
    Growing up in Queenstown and working in the family restaurant, Melanie couldn’t wait to leave town to experience the world. After 10 years studying and working abroad in everything but food, she couldn’t deny her passion any longer. Happy to be back, Melanie is excited to be carrying on the family tradition of sharing her love of food and the shared dining experience with locals and visitors alike.
  • Rest of the team

    The rest of the My Thai family includes chefs Jaral and Tee, along with Benjawan and Ritt in the dining room. Jaral is Pen’s husband and as a couple they have worked together for over 15 years. Prior to moving to Queenstown, Tee cooked for the popular Busaba Eatthai Restaurants in London. Benjawan worked alongside Pen and Jaral in Portugal before joining them in Queenstown. Aside from her service skills, she is also a master fruit and vegetable carver. Ritt, in addition to mixing up delicious cocktails in our bar, is also in charge of cultivating the fresh herbs grown in our greenhouse.
